About
Who we are
I got into this field by accident. I was going to college to become a teacher. I took an art special education class and the instructor recommended Art Therapy. The rest is history. I am a licensed massage therapist as well. I have been on a quest to blend both mediums to help provide a holistic type of care.
I have been a counselor for 38 years. I have work experiences that range from inpatient and outpatient settings. Woodstock Psychiatric center, Lutheran Social Services, Lawrence Hall Youth Services,DCFS, Janet Wattles Mental Health Center, I have worked in two addiction in-patient units, learned about high and low teams course work through the North Brook Park district, YMCA-Camp Winnebago, Lake Geneva Covenant Harbor. I have created workshops for weekend self exploration and mask making. I love helping others make their issues & problems more concrete through art. I especially love when clients create something that is metaphoric about what is happening in their life. I am trained in all the traditional therapies. My favorite type of therapy is experiential. This means a mixture of psychodrama, art, play therapy, sand tray, music, Jungian Psychology, Shadow work, and Breathwork.
I have enjoyed teaching interns in the counseling profession from many different colleges. Including the Art Institute, Judson College, Capella University, Waldron College and University of Cumberland and more. I mentor those who want to serve in private practice. It is an honor to help new therapist learn.
